The IMO’s work in Pakistan has deep roots. Even its predecessor organisations have been working there for over a century. Today, the IMO in Pakistan is led by some of the leading academics and journalists in the country. Its activities in this country remain focussed on academic tasks, but it is anticipated that in due course a more active policy of seeking the betterment of Pakistan will be adopted.
The forefathers of the current leaders of the IMO originate from Pakistan. Therefore, IMO has a support base of millions in Pakistan. The grandfather of Hazrat Saheb, Munazir e Azam Maulana Mohammed Umar Icharvi Saheb dedicated his life to the development of the Pakistani people. To this day, he is revered all over Pakistan. He was well known for his remarkable debating ability for which he was given the title of ‘Munazir e Azam’. His speeches and debates attracted hundreds of thousands of people at a time. The family of Munazire Azam (r.a) continue to forward the interests of Pakistani people and to this day are consistently working towards creating wholesome change.
The affiliate organisations of IMO in Pakistan are working at various levels of society to facilitate development for all. They are involved in poverty alleviation, education and health care projects.
Young Muslims in Pakistan are undergoing a crisis of identity. They have lost faith in the current practices of ritualistic Islam and in those who claim to represent Islam. The self appointed representatives of Islam are embroiled in unIslamic conflicts. These individuals have no strategy as to moving forward either their organisational or Islamic agenda. Instead, they are only interested in extending their personal agenda.
The IMO will work towards securing forums for the revival of the Pakistani people’s true Islamic identity without becoming narrow or radical in their thought process. IMO members will set the example of how this community in transition can have a positive material life, balanced with a truly transparent moral life.
The Pakistani government has never found the real meaning of its existence since independence. All Pakistani leaders to date have been the product and reflection of the chaos within the country rather than pioneers of change.
The IMO will campaign to educate these leaders about social responsibility above personal greed. It will engage with these leaders to relieve them of their insecurities of having to hold onto power in order to survive. The IMO will help develop those sincere leaders to undertake their role of leadership in an effective manner.
