...International Muslims Organisation...

Saudi Arabia ...

The IMO has been working in Saudi Arabia since 1984.  The founding president, Hazrat Maulana Abdul Wahab Siddiqi (ra) established links with many of the Hijazi ulema who have been exceptionally supportive in their endorsement of the IMO’s work.  In particular, the IMO is affiliated with Shaykh Maliki Alawi of Mecca and through him to his many Mureeds.  The Naqshbandi Hijazi Sufi order itself has several hundred Mureed in Saudi Arabia.

The IMO has been a dedicated partner to local organisations in campaigning on a number of pertinent issues.  This includes the campaign to halt the destruction of the Mausoleums of the household of the Prophet peace be upon him and his companions (peace be upon them).  These monuments are at the heart of Islamic spirituality and history.  Their destruction would have seriously undermined the shared identity and heritage of Muslims worldwide.

In 1985, the IMO organised the Hijaz Conference at the Wembley Stadium in London.  This conference was in protest to the unfair taxes levied by the Saudi King on Hajjis.  It was attended by tens of thousands of people and as a result the Saudi government agreed to make amends.

These two decisive campaigns, among many others has won IMO the confidence of many thousands of Saudi nationals.

Among local affiliations, perhaps one of the most important is the IMO’s links with Dr Abdul Yamani the ex information Minster.  He is also the chairman of Iqra, an international charitable organisation based in Jeddah.  This affiliation has been a means of involvement in local social development programmes and also a platform for the IMO’s international work.

The way forward ...

The Saudi people are the recipients of thousands of Messengers from Allah.  They are the custodians of Islam’s holiest places.

The Saudi youth have started to become disenchanted with their cultural heritage.  The members of the IMO shall continue to offer guidance and direction to this youth as to the positive elements of their religious heritage and how to avoid the negative connotations of their cultural baggage.  The IMO will campaign to mould these new citizens to become the source of guidance for youth throughout the world.

The Saudi government has been torn by the politics between the ruling monarch and the ten thousand odd claimants to the throne.

The Saudi government has paid immense sums of money with a sincere desire to contribute to the development of the global Muslim community.  However, the vast majority of the funds have through reckless distribution, landed in the hands of protagonists of radicalism and extremism.

The IMO will continue to encourage the Saudi government to continue to expend large sums generously in worthwhile causes.  It will assist in identifying worthwhile causes where the said money will be effectively used.  The IMO will work hard to ensure that the good intentions of the original Hijazi people are properly delivered into effective enrichment for the global Muslim community.
