...International Muslims Organisation...

South Africa ...

The IMO in South Africa has been established since 2000 and within a few years has become one of the most active branches of the IMO.  Allama Pir Hazrat Noor Sahib and Allama Pir Hazrat Zain Sahib have both toured South Africa extensively.  They continue to regularly visit South Africa to deliver public lectures and take part in conferences.  Their involvement in South Africa has culminated into a following of tens of thousands.  Many hundreds have also joined the Naqshbandi Hijazi Sufi Order as a result of the inspirational presence and work of the Shaykhs.  The South African IMO is also supported by a number of the leading business families in its Islamic work.

There are over two hundred mosques across South Africa affiliated to the IMO.  During its time here, the IMO has built many more mosques.  Through its wide range of activities, and in particular the tireless efforts of the Naqshbandi Hijazi Shaykhs, the IMO has revived the spiritual ethos of South African Muslims.

The IMO’s firm commitment to proactively building social harmony has had a significant impact on the way South African Muslims have interfaced with the rest of society.  They have been able to play a part in bringing together the different parts of society and engage in open dialogue.  The President General of the IMO, Shaykh Faizul Aqtab Siddiqi has spoken at the Peace and Reconciliation Debate.  His involvement has further reinforced the true position of Islam and Muslims at times of ethnic tension.

On the other hand, the IMO recognises that addressing the inequitable distribution of wealth in a practical manner will facilitate community cohesion.  With this in view, it has implemented numerous food distribution, education and employment programmes in impoverished regions.

In a short time, the IMO in South Africa has become involved on many different levels.  It has worked towards social betterment, community building and the rejuvenating the spiritual heart of the Muslim Community.  Its activities have received support from a multitude of people from diverse backgrounds and therefore its effects have also permeated throughout South African society.

The way forward ...

The people of South Africa have only recently started to wake up from decades of persecution and racist tyranny.  They have undergone the Peace and Reconciliation process in an exemplary manner.  However, the newly established independence has very quickly churned out a new breed of ruling classes that have failed to distribute the wealth of the nation to all its inhabitants.  The result of this can be potentially explosive in the future.

The IMO will campaign to ensure that the Indian population realise their destiny to serve the indigenous people of South Africa.  The IMO members will continue to offer effective guidance so that the brotherhood within the organisation can be extended to the rest of citizens of South Africa.

The South African government is currently led by people who have suffered at the behest of people eclipsed from true humanity.  The IMO will campaign to ensure that the present governing infrastructure does not fall prey to the same tyranny in a variated form.  It will campaign with the government to ensure that the South African government emerges as a true regional superpower of conscience rather than one of brutal strength.
