The United Kingdom is home to the central body of the IMO. It is from here, that the numerous international campaigns conducted by the IMO have been instigated. These are described in the campaigns section.
The founding President of the IMO, Maulana Abdul Wahab Siddiqi (ra) has been instrumental to the development of the British Muslim community. He has built over one hundred mosques and Islamic Centres to provide Muslims here with access to the institutions of their faith. Furthermore, there is a network of over eight hundred scholars and thousands of Mureeds of the Naqshbandi Hijazi Sufi Order dedicated in promulgating the vision of the IMO. The IMO in UK has direct contact with approximately half of the grassroots Muslim community. Therefore, it has been able to establish its work here with great expediency.
The IMO constructed the Jamia Islamia in Coventry with the aim of educating scholars in both Islamic and secular sciences. This endeavour has developed hundreds of scholars who are committed to the ideals of Islam and yet in touch with the reality of today’s society.
The IMO has also established Hijaz College in Nuneaton with similar objectives being delivered to a younger cohort of students.
The Muslim Child Helpline was established in Nottingham by the IMO. It is a unique programme which offers support to vulnerable Muslim children who may not have the confidence to approach more traditional means of assistance.
The IMO runs Muslim Education Relief from UK. This programme sets up schools across to world in order to provide education in impoverished communities.
Recently, the IMO has established United in Care which aspires to work on a wide range of international developmental issues. These would range from providing relief aid to long term sustainable development.
The heart of the Naqshbandi Hijazi Sufi order is in Nuneaton, England. The final resting place of Hazrat Maulana Abdul Wahab Siddiqi (ra) is here. His Blessed Mausoleum or Mizar Sharif is the only one of its kind in Europe and is visited by multitudes of people.
The IMO members in UK will continue to build bridges with the indigenous people. It is hoped that its activities will establish a meaningful and objective platform for dialogue between Muslims and non Muslims. This will include promoting dialogue with government institutions to eradicate ignorance.
It aims to foster a strong Islamic identity within a British context. Instead of Muslims having to choose between either narrow minded, insular radicalisation or mindless homogenisation, it hopes to offer Muslims the opportunity to create their own middle ground.
